What is Blackbox RMS?
Blackbox RMS is release management software for the business side of music. It gives labels and artists dedicated desktop workspaces for release control, files, contracts, planning, promo, delivery, and presentation.
What is the difference between Label Edition and Artist Edition?
Label Edition is built for label-side release control, artist intake, reusable contract templates, synced paperwork, promo, roster tracking, and catalog workflow. Artist Edition is built for artists who want a better workspace for releases, imports, EPK preparation, labels, promo, profile assets, and catalog organisation.
How is the software delivered?
After purchase, your installer and license file are delivered through the Blackbox customer portal so they stay tied to your account. The customer portal also holds your user guide, and the live editions support in-app updates once installed.
Can Label Edition handle artist contracts inside the delivery flow?
Yes. Label Edition includes a contract template workflow that lets labels map a reusable contract, prefill their side before sending, and then collect the artist's completed contract back through the delivery portal and sync flow.
Can Artist Edition create EPKs?
Yes. Artist Edition includes a dedicated EPK workspace where you can edit release-specific EPK fields, shape presentation material, and export a polished PDF EPK tied to the selected release.
Does Label Edition include an artist roster view?
Yes. Label Edition includes an Artists workspace for artist-level notes, contact routes, contract status, relationship tags, socials, linked releases, and attached contracts.
Do I get a unique license?
Yes. Each purchase is tied to a customer account and receives its own issued license.
Can I try Blackbox before I buy?
Yes. Both editions are available as 14-day demos so you can explore the real workflow before making a purchase.
Do the demos include the real workflow?
Yes. The demos are intended to reflect the real product flow, including the live updater path for that channel.
Can I import existing folders or spreadsheets into Blackbox?
Yes. Both editions support bringing existing material into the app so older folders, spreadsheets, release lists, and asset collections can be reviewed inside the Blackbox workflow instead of rebuilt by hand.
Why might my antivirus or browser warn me about the demo download?
Some antivirus tools and browser reputation systems can be cautious with newer Windows desktop installers, especially when they have not built up much download history yet. If you see a warning, it is usually a heuristic flag on a new installer rather than a sign that the Blackbox download is unsafe.
What platform is Blackbox available on?
Blackbox RMS is currently available as a Windows desktop product.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. You can buy outright or choose a fixed-term rent-to-own plan, depending on the edition.
